Salute battery Atkins has been providing demonstrations for a wide audience for about 35 years. This makes it one of the oldest re-enactor associations in the Netherlands. In these demonstrations we show how the exercise from the Eighty Years’ War and the period 1813-1815 (Napoleonic) was carried out with various old front-loading weapons (both cannons and rifles) and uniforms. In addition, accompaniment is given to concerts and pieces of music such as the Overture 1812 by P. Tchaikovsky.
It also participates in major international events such as the battle of Waterloo, the battle of Bourtange, the battle of Grolle and the battle of Heiligerlee. During a bivouac we give you a look at life around an army encampment, complete with artillery fire, tents, campfire, cooking utensils, camp followers, gin, etc…
Joining!
You can join us as a gunner (from 18 years old) or camp follower. Of course you can use our depot material (uniform, tent, etc.). As long as it is necessary, these items are available to you to fully dress as a gunner or as a camp follower. Our club building is in Den Hoorn (near Delft), so centrally located in the Randstad.
